Chelsea’s preseason results discomfitted Roberto Di Matteo

The defending European champions, The Blues, finished the preseason with 1 win, 1 draw, 3 losses, 8 goals scored and 10 goals conceded.

Roberto Di Matteo is upset with 1-3 defeat to Brighton. He reported that he had been expecting more from the team in terms of urgency and movement.

Frank Lampard opened the score after 34 minutes though Vicente, Ashley Barnes brought the Seagulls to 2-1 lead and Andrew Crofts secured the third goal.

That was the Blue’s third defeat in the preseason. During the USA tour Chelsea had defeated to AC Milan and MSL All-Star team.

Roberto Di Matteo said that the footballers had been too stretched, never aggressive enough and, losing the ball they had not gotten the ball back quickly enough, and there hadn’t been enough movement.

He resumed that there wouldn’t be radical changes, but with the integration of new players inevitably we would change a bit.

‘The way we want to play is to win many games and score goals,’ he said.
