Cleverley to pen new Man Utd contract

Goal.com states that Man Utd young midfielder Thomas Cleverley has verbally agreed a new five-year contract which is to be officially signed by the New Year.

The 23 year-old opened talks over the new contract in October, revealing that he is willing the parity with the Man Utd’s first team players Phil Jones and Chris Smalling. In another words Cleverley wanted his current £35,000p/w deal to increase to £40,000p/w with bonuses.

Man Utd management was keen to reward Cleverley for his impressive development this season and offered the new £60,000p/w deal.

Cleverley made 10 appearances and scored 1 goal this season.
