Confederations Cup results: Spain are through to the final after beating Italy 7-6 on penalties (video highlights)

Spain progressed to the final where they will face hosts Brazil, after beating Italy 7-6 in a penalty shoot-out following an electrifying 0-0 draw on Thursday.

The Italians were determined to deliver a fight against the World and European champions to get the revenge for last year’s humiliation in European Championship final, where they were dismantled 4-0. However despite dominating the encounter for 90 minutes they failed to convert their advantage into goals.

After some energetic performance delivered by both sides in the extra time, the game eventually went to a penalty shoot-out. Both teams converted 12 penalties, with players displaying nerves of steel as the tension increased, before Bonucci fired high into the crowd his penalty and Navas left Buffon no chance.

Spain will now face hosts Brazil in the Confederations Cup final on Sunday.
