Crystal Palace eye moves for Acuna, Odemwingie

Newly promoted Crystal Palace are desperately trying to strengthen their squad, after winning promotion by beating Watford 1-0 in Championship play-off final at Wembley.

With their best player Wilfried Zaha leaving for Manchester United and their top goal scorer Glenn Murray sidelined until Christmas due to knee injury, Crystal Palace boss Ian Holloway turned attention to Real Madrid forward Javier Acuna and out-of-favour West Brom striker Odemwingie.

The 24-year-old Paraguayan Javier Acuna is nearing to an end and the Egales could sign him for free in summer if they beat off the interest from Bolton and Middleborough.

Holloway is a long-term admirer of the 31-year-old Nigerian Odemwingie and tried to land the player in January, but the striker was reluctant to drop out of Premier League. Instead he tried to force his move to QPR which ended in damaging his reputation among the fans and Steve Clark beyond repair. As a result, he has not done any Premier League appearances ever since.
