Defoe, Sturridge, Carrick set to miss Brazil friendly

According to Eurosport England boss Roy Hodgson faces selection headache after the news that two of his first-choice strikers are set to miss Wednesday’s Brazil friendly due to injuries.

Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas revealed that Jermain Defoe will be on the sidelines for up to three weeks after sustaining an ankle injury during Spurs’ 1-0 win over WBA.

Liverpool forward Daniel Sturridge has damaged his thigh in the honourable 2-2 draw with Man City.

Amid the absence of Sturridge and Defoe Roy Hodgson is left with only two forwards (Rooney and Welbeck) from his original squad.
Man Utd Michael Carrick will also be unavailable for Brazil friendly with “an unspecified injury”.
