Del Piero was expecting one more season with Juventus

Alessandro Del Piero stated he had expected to extend his contract with Juventus, but the club officials were not keen.

Del Piero noted that he had even faced some difficulties while signing the last contract with Turin club, yet managed to solve them and stay for a season. Commenting on his departure from Juventus after playing for the club for 19 years, he claimed: ’I gave my all, and even more what I had, and I am extremely happy. After that, we all follow our own destinies; mine is taking me somewhere else. There is not any bitterness, as far as I am concerned.’

The Italian forward is currently in the USA for a vacation and he said that the United States was a very unique nation and the country where he had always enjoyed staying. He added he had not signed a contract with any MLS club yet, emphasizing he was looking for the right team ‘to continue playing football for one, three, or even five years.’

The 37-year-old striker revealed his plans on coaching; claiming that he was inspired by such managers as Pep Guardiola, Giovanni Trapattoni, Marcello Lippi, Fabio Capello and Carlo Ancelotti.
