Deportivo selects Fernando Vazquez as a new head coach

The tactician replaces Domingos Paciencia in the Spanish club.

The contract with the manager will last until the end of the season with the option of expansion the deal if the team avoids dropping in a class.
Vazquez has spells with Las Palmas, Real Mallorca, Valladolid, Real Betis and Celta Vigo where he helped the team to progress from the Segunda Division to the UEFA Cup.

“I am very happy for this chance with Deportivo,” Vazquez stated. “I know that this is a tough moment, but I am confident that nothing is impossible and my idea now is to win eight games.”

The previous coach Paciencia headed the team only for six weeks.

Deportivo stands two points adrift at the foot of La Liga standings.
