Eintracht’s Rode dismissed Bayern Munich link
Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Sebastian Rode has dismissed the transfer rumours linking with a switch to Bayern Munich.
The 22-year-old German has recently confirmed he is not going to extend his current deal beyond 2014 and expects leaving the club in the near future. Bayern were immediately cited as his most likely destination. The speculations suggested the German giants either attmpt to sign him on a price-cut deal in summer, or snap up the player on a free transfer after his contract expires.
However Rode dismissed the rumours, fearing that they could have a negative impact on his side’s performance, as Frankfurt are eyeing Europe league spot this season. He admitted he remains fully committed to fulfilling his duties at Frankfurt.
Rode said: “After more speculation about my future emerged yesterday and since this took something away from the Schalke win and the great performance of the whole team, I would like to make one thing clear. I have a contract with Eintracht until 2014 and I am very happy in Frankfurt. During talks with the club bosses, I made it clear quite soon that I will fulfil my contract, but would not like to extend it.
“I have not signed on for any other club and I would like to commit all of my energy and concentration to my team and my performance. All the rest is pure speculation which does not come from me and which I do not like either. My only goal now is success with Eintracht Frankfurt,” he added.
