Eredivisie fixtures preview: PSV vs Ajax

Eredivisie fixtures preview: PSV vs Ajax

The clash between PSV Eindhoven and Ajax Amsterdam may become the deciding game in the race for this season’s Eredivisie trophy.

The Amsterdam-based side are three points above their rivals in the table, while third standing Vitesse Arnhem have the same number of points as Eindhoven. If Ajax defeat PSV, their chances of clinching the title increase considerably, but a loss or a defeat would see three top teams fight for the first place.

PSV midfielder Wilfred Bouma will miss the game due to a groin strain, while Luciano Narsingh is out of action with knee injury. The positive news for the side is the return of Dries Mertens whose suspension has finished.

Ajax starts without midfielder Davy Klaassen that picked up a groin strain and goalkeeping Kenneth Vermeer who received a red card in the fixture against Heracles last Sunday. The keeper will be replaced by the young goalie Jasper Cillessen who made only two outings this year.

PSV is on an impressive run of seventeen victories in last nineteen home matches in the domestic championship, while Ajax won their last five Eredivisie games.
