Europa League preview: it is time to impress

Europa League preview: it is time to impress

The game against Sparta should answer some questions that Chelsea fans have.

The London-based side failed to impress in the Champions League finishing third in the group and qualifying to the Europa League. Despite the disappointing European campaign as the fans clearly expected more from the current holders of the title, the Blues will definitely attempt to progress as far as possible.

Chelsea opponent is Sparta Prague that stands third in the Czech league claiming nine victories, four draws and losing three matches. The major minus of the side is week offensive line as the side scored less than other top four sides. The Czech team will start the game with all players in the line-up, while Chelsea captain John Terry is likely to miss the game suffering from a reoccurrence of a knee problem.

Despite showing inconsistent result lately the London side should overcome Sparta easily. Rafa Benitez team stands third in the league losing three games and ending in a draw three others. Sparta is a tough opponent at home as the team did not lose a match during the group stage (two wins and one draw), but the English team is more motivated trying to end a string of poor results and proving that the supporters can still hope for better.
