Europa League preview: Tottenham vs Basel

Europa League preview: Tottenham vs Basel

In-form Tottenham are hoping to shake off the disappointment following 4-1 defeat at the hands of Inter Milan and extend their European campaign at the expense of Basel.

Tottenham team news:

Tottenham have almost a fully-fit first squad for the Europa League last-8 first leg against Basel.

Hugo Lloris remains Andre Villas-Boas’ only injury concern, as he has picked up a knee injury while on international duty with France last week. The goalkeeper is set to miss the Europa League clash, with Brad Friedel taking his place between the sticks.

Aaron Lennon and Michael Dawson have recovered from the injuries picked up during the Spurs’ 2-1 win over Swansea and are expected to start.

Jermain Defoe, who has netted four goals in Tottenham’s European campaign, is likely to be included into the first XI ahead of Emmanuel Adebayor.

Basel team news:

Basel boast a clean bill of health ahead of the game with main Basel stars Streller, Degen and Frei all expected to feature in the starting line-up against Tottenham.
