The Biancocelesti took control of the game from the first minutes, playing in aggressive and attacking manner, yet their offensive line led by Ledesma produced hasty efforts with long-distance shots by Candreva and Hernanes. Lazio were a level higher than the Turks throughout the first half, pilling the pressure on the opponents, but the opener came only in the second period as Candreva made a cross and Lulic headed home, giving the hope to the Capital side. Klose and Floccari added the pressure on Fenerbahce, though the Istanbul side responded with a sharp counter-attack and leveled the score.

Floccari and Radu were close to scoring the second for the hosts, but in the end the Italians were held to a 1-1 draw and exited the tournament.
