Everton Heitinga considers leaving the club

Everton defender Johnny Heitinga hinted at possible departure from the Goodison Park in summer.

The 29-year-old Dutchman fell out of favour with former Everton boss David Moyes, which limited the number of Premier League appearances to 26. Heitinga is set to enter the final year of his contract and said the Toffees could be willing to offload him in summer rather than losing him for free next year.

Recent speculation linked the player with a move to Turkish outfit Fenerbahce, after the proposed move of the player to Turkey fell through in January. “Everton asked too much and the deal collapsed,” he said.

Heitinga admitted he has not discussed his future with the club’s representatives, but refused to rule out possibility of leaving the club. He said: “If they want to earn something for me, this is the moment. I have made no arrangement with the club about that. I will just wait and see what happens.”
