FA Cup. Arsenal beat Hull City and lift the trophy.

Arsenal produced a remarkable comeback at Wembley against Hull City to end their silverware drought and lift the FA Cup.

The Gunners had not had a better chance to repeat their 2005 FA Cup success when they faced modest Hull City side at Wembley last Saturday. Arsene Wenger’s future was on the table when the teams came on to the pitch. However, The Tigers shocked them twice in the space of eight minutes from the starting whistle. Center-backs James Chester and Curtis Davies hit the back of the net, guarded by Lukasz Fabianski. It was Santi Cazorla who saved Arsenal’s hopes with a stunning free-kick on 17 minutes. The Gunners went on to dominate for long periods of the game and managed to equalize with some twenty minutes to go courtesy of Laurent Koscielny. Hull City were hoping to make it to penalty shoot-out, but a nice touch from Aaron Ramsey in extra chance deprived them of a chance to win the first title in history.

Arsenal, meanwhile, celebrate their first trophy since 2005, and prepare a contract extension for Arsene Wenger.
