Fabio Borini undergoes surgery on a fractured bone in his foot

The Italy striker has been ruled out for three months due to an injury.

The 21-year-old arrived to Liverpool from Roma in July for a fee of $17m. He suffered a problem with his foot in the recent match against Manchester United and the problem was aggravated when he represented the Italy Under-21 team last week.

Liverpool’s manager, Brendan Rodgers, is short of strikers and only Luis Suárez is at disposal. Andy Carroll was sent on loan to English Premier League club West Ham United. So four next UEFA Europa League clashes Liverpool will play without Fabio Borini.

The Reds, currently ranked 14th in the Premier League, are 13 points behind the leaders Chelsea. This striker crisis leaves the team hard pressed before next Thursday’s game against FC Anji Makhachkala.

Borini scored his only goal in his debut match against Gomel and hasn’t netted the Premier League goal yet.
