Fernando Torres : ‘The equality between the top English teams is at a peak’

Fernando Torres has just joined Chelsea first team that is on tour of the US, but he already made clear that his ambitions for the upcoming season are very high.

The Spain striker Torres states on his official website that his primary goal for the season is to win the Premier League and he is confident Chelsea is one of the contenders for the title. The striker claims that ‘the equality between the top English teams is at a peak’, adding that the way Manchester City clinched the trophy just on goal difference proves competition is very tense.

The first official Chelsea fixture is on August 12 when the team meets Manchester United in the Community Shield. Torres believes the match will be ‘a battle from start to finish between two teams who are obliged to fight for everything this season in England and in Europe’.

The forward is also looking forward to playing in the UEFA Super club where his side faces Atletico Madrid - the team where Torres started his football career. He believes that the match ’is going to be full of different emotions. Meeting a team that is in your heart has to be different’.
