The first round of La Liga matches

FC Barcelona 5-1 Real Sociedad
Real Madrid 1-1 Valencia CF

The Catalans opened the scoring in four minutes, it was Carles Puyol, who gave the start to Barcelona and in three minutes Chory Castro equalized the score.

Then Messi netted two goals in the 11th and 16th minutes which led Barca to a 3-1 lead.

Before the break Pedro added the forth and David Villa, who have recently returned back from injury, made it 5-1 eight minutes from time. Villa broke his leg last December and on his return he celebrates their 5-1 home win over Real Sociedad.

Gonzalo Higuain led Real Madrid ahead in the 10th minute and then the reigning champions failed to regain the lead after Valencia’s Jonas scored an equalizer three minutes before the break. So neither side managed to score their second on the opening weekend of La Liga.

Athletic Bilbao were defeated 3-5 by Real Betis at San Mamés.

Levante UD and Atletico Madrid ended with 1-1 draw.

Saturday’s matches of La Liga finished a success for Sevilla FC, as they earned 2-1 victory over Getafe CF, and RCD Mallorca, they defeated RCD Espanyol 2-1.

Celta de Vigo lost 0-1 to Malaga CF.
