Five players made their debuts, Gerrard reached 100 caps for England
England starting eleven for yesterday’s friendly match against Sweden was as follows: Hart (Man City), Johnson (Liverpool), Cahill (Chelsea), Caulker (Tottenham), Baines (Everton), Gerrard (Liverpool), Cleverley (Man Utd), Osman (Everton), Sterling (Liverpool), Welbeck, Young (both - Man Utd).
20 year-old Tottenham center back Steven Caulker, 31 year-old Everton midfielder Leon Osman, 17 year-old Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling, and 20 year-old Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson made their international debuts. Caulker marked his first cap with a goal.
Liverpool legendary midfielder Steven Gerrard became the 6th player in the history of English football to win 100 caps for the national side. Peter Shilton holds the record as Three Lions’ most capped player (125 appearances), while David Beckham (115) is on the second place, Bobby Moore (108) – on the third, Bobby Charlton (106) – on the fourth and Billy Wright (105) – on the fifth place.
World-class performance from super-forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic proved a decisive factor in Sweden’s 4-2 win. Ibra scored incredible four goals and proved once again that he is one of the best forwards in the modern football.
