Granada replaces Anquela with Alcaraz

La Liga side decided to part ways with the head coach Juan Antonio Anquela after a string of poor results.

The Andalusian club issued a statement that reads: “The board of Granada CF has sacked coach Juan Antonio Anquela.” Lucas Alcaraz was named as a new manager of the team who will head the side till the end of the campaign.

Alcaraz started his coaching career in Granada in the 1990s, while his most recent managerial experience was with the Greek side Aris Salonika.

Anquela was selected as Granada head coach in June 2012 after the 55-year-old tactician helped the small club Alcoron to receive promotion from the third division to La Liga promotion play-offs where the side lost to Real Valladolid.
