Panama 1-5 Spain
The reigning champions Spain built up an unassailable 3-0 lead over lowly Panama by the half-time mark. It was Barcelona forward Pedro who scored an opener in the 16th minute and David Villa who doubled the Spanish lead. Pedro completed his terrific brace in the closing moments of the first half. Sergio Ramos and Markel Susaeta contributed another two goals to the match wrapping up a comfortable win. However, Panama midfielder Gabriel Gomez made a sole response equalizing via penalty 3 minutes from time.
Netherlands 0-0 Germany
The Netherlands took on their bitterest European rival Germany in Amsterdam this Wednrsday. The hosts have dreamt to beat the enemy for ten years and yesterday it was a golden chance for them to do that. But though the Dutch men ran riot and the Germans showed their character, the match headed for a stalemate draw. However, the Dutch Arjen Robben and his teammate Daryl Janmaat produced two splendid efforts on goal throughout the clash.
Brazil 1-1 Colombia
Colombia, who visited 2014 World Cup hosts Brazil on Wednesday, took the lead over the rivals via Fiorentina player Juan Cuadrado scoring just before the half-time whistle. The Brazilian team bestirred themselves and Santos striker Neymar leveled midway through the second half. However, the Brazilian was booed as he sent his 80th minute penalty way over and deprived the team of their seventh consecutive win.
Russia 2-2 USA
Russia took an early lead via Fedor Smolov goal 9 minutes into the match. The visitors, though struggling hard in Krasnodar, couldn’t come from behind until the 76th minute when Michael Bradley went into American first dangerous incursion and leveled the scoring with a terrific volley from outside the box. However, Zenit St Petersburg midfielder Roman Shirokov resumed the Russian lead through a penalty in the 84th minute. There was electric atmosphere at the stadium and the USA newcomer Mikkel Deskerud saved the American team from a defeat with a splendid goal in injury time.
