Holger Badstuber: ‘If you work hard, you get rewarded’
Holger Badstuber progressed to the first team of Bayern in just three seasons, but the 23-year-old German international believes his development has only started.
Ahead of the 2012/2013 season Badstuber told the German press he is still very ambitious and tries to give his all both at the training pitch and on the field. The defender claimed: ‘If a player works hard, he gets rewarded; I want everyone here to give everything. I believe, that’s the best recipe for winning trophies, which is what the whole team wants at the end of the day.’
Badstuber also spoke about the upcoming start of Bundesliga, stating the league has its own atmosphere and unimaginable presence in Germany. He added: ‘In no other country are the matches sold out as often as they are in Germany. All stadiums are very unique - nowhere else has the same level of excitement.’
The German international appeared at the highest level only in the season 2011/2012, yet he underlined he expected more talented German players to rise to prominence during the coming campaign: ‘Young players can play with the pace and the physical side of the game at the top level. We can see that coaches put trust in young players. I’m confident new players will appear this season and set the bar even higher.’
