Isaac Cuenca keen to prolong his Ajax stay

Barcelona winger Isaac Cuenca who has been loaned out to Ajax until the end of the season, would like to prolong his stay at the Dutch club.

The Spaniard came off as a substitute in Ajax’s 2-0 win over NAC Breda, the result which allowed them to open up four-point gap at the top of Eredivisie table.

Despite making just 5 appearances in the Eredevisie this season, due to a series of injuries, Cuenca enjoys his life in Amsterdam and thinks one more season under management of Frank de Boer could help his development. He said: “I want to stay another year at Ajax. FC Barcelona know what I want and the clubs are talking about it, because relationships are good, I trust that I stay.

“Because of my injury I cannot play much, but next season I want to be important. I have had fun with Ajax, feel comfortable and their style of play resembles that of Barca. I think it’s good for my development - it is a year to train under Frank de Boer and play.”
