La Liga fixtures preview: Barcelona could secure La Lig title
Barcelona will try to leave behind the humiliating 7-0 aggregate defeat in their Champions League semi-final at the hands of Bayern Munich and secure a victory over Real Betis to guarantee themselves La Liga title with five games remaining.
Barcelona needed to overturn a four-goal deficit at Camp Nou to progress to the Champions League final however Bayern Munich hammered the Blaugrana 3-0 to shatter their dreams of lifting fourth Champions League trophy. Claiming La Liga title could ease their pain. Barcelona are currently 11 points clear of their closest rivals and they know that the victory against Real Betis at the home ground along with Real Madrid’s failure to outplay Real Valladolid will earn them the major domestic trophy.
Meanwhile Atletico Madrid look certain to claim third Champions League spot, as they 10 points ahead of fourth-placed Real Sociedad and are visiting struggling Deportivo La Coruna. Real Sociedad are in the driving seat to secure the fourth Champions League place as they are boasting five-point advantage over Malaga and visit Getafe.
Fifth-placed Malaga and sixth-placed Valencia are expected to earn three points in the games against bottom-dwelling Granada and Osasuna respectively.
