La Liga results: Barcelona a win away from claiming La Liga title

La Liga results: Barcelona a win away from claiming La Liga title

Barcelona recuperated from their damaging 7-0 aggregate defeat to Bayern Munich in their Champions League semi-final by hammering Real Betis 4-2 in a thrilling encounter at Camp Nou. Lionel Messi came off the bench to score a brace and help his side to a victory.

It looked like Barca destined to slip to the second successive defeat at the home ground, after Dorlan Pabon scored two minutes into the opening half. Sanchez leveled the scoring seven minutes later only to see Perez cancelling out his effort two minutes before the half-time. Villa equalized once again ten minutes after the break. Messi stepped off the bench to score in the 60th and 71st minutes and earn the Blaugrana a victory.

The results means Barcelona are topping the table 11 points ahead of their closest rivals Real Madrid with three games to go and need just one more victory to claim La Liga title.

Elsewhere Real Madrid beat Valladolid 4-3 in an entertaining game at Santiago Bernabeu, with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring a brace.

Atletico were held to a scoreless draw by bottom-dwelling Deportivo, meaning the third-placed Atletico cemented the Champions League spot.
Valencia retain the chances of claiming the Champions League spot, after thrashing Osasuna 4-0.

Sevilla are still in the chase of the European spot after a comfortable 3-0 win over Espanyol, while Mallorca remain bottom of the table after a 1-1 home draw with Levante.
