Lampard says Champions League success kept the team together

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard believes the Champions League title helped the side to escape ‘wholesale changes’.

England international claimed that Champions League triumph saved the team from radical transformations: ‘I didn’t really reckon at the time that would be the end, but looking back, it would have been the break-up of that squad,’ he explained.

Talking about the former Chelsea coach Andre Villas-Boas, Lampard stated: ‘we were very different personalities’. ‘What I found hard to manage was not so much the not-playing side, but the communication - or to be exact the not talking about it,’ the midfielder explained.
