Laudrup admitted he may be forced to sale Williams

Swansea boss Michael Laudrup hinted at possibility of selling his in-demand defender Ashley Williams in order to fund his ambitious spending plans in summer.

Recent transfer rumours suggested Wales skipper Williams could be making a switch either to Arsenal or Liverpool with both clubs keen on strengthening their defensive options with a reliable player.

Laudrup is aware of high interest in player after a series of impressive performances this season, and admits the Swans may be forced to part ways with their star. He said: “There has been a lot of talk and let’s see what happens. He extended his contract not so long ago, like I did. Maybe we have to accept one player will go but not any more. We have to strengthen to consolidate because a lot of the teams below us in the table will spend more money.

“Those sums are above what we pay so we have to do things in different ways. There is a lot of work to do this summer. One thing is to find them and another to then go and sign them,” the Dane added.
