Liverpool Allen set to undergo a surgery

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has confirmed midfielder Joe Allen is set to go under knife to fix his shoulder problems.

Allen was named as a substitute for Premier League encounter against Tottenham on Sunday however before the kick-off Rodgers said he does not plan to field the player who has been carrying an injury for several months.

Allen has joined Liverpool from Swansea for £15 million last summer, but he failed to regain his top form ever since. Now it turns out he is poised to undergo a surgery and will be out of contention for the rest of the season. Rodgers revealed: “We made a change today, because Joe Allen has been struggling from around about the end of October with his shoulder and that has got worse. He will probably need an operation in the next week or so.”
