Liverpool eye Man City Toure swoop

Liverpool are stepping up their interest in Manchester City out-of-favour defender Kolo Toure.

Current Toure deal is set to expire in summer and he is unlikely to extend his deal with the Citizens, after having spent the large part of the season on the bench. He has made just 17 appearances in all competitions. Several European clubs are said to be preparing a bid for the experiences defender, with Liverpool considered to be the favourites to land the 32-year-old Ivory Coast international.

The Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is looking to expand his defensive options as Jaime Carragher retired from football and Martin Skrtel is on the verge of leaving Anfield. Toure’s signing could add necessary experience to young Liverpool side and fill the void left by Carragher.

Toure boasts a wealth of Premier League experience, after making in excess of 400 Premier League appearances during his career in England.
