Liverpool sign Kolo Toure

Liverpool sign Kolo Toure

Liverpool confirmed signing of experienced centre-back Kolo Toure from Manchester City on a free transfer.

30-year-old Ivorian has fell out of favour with former manager Roberto Mancini, who preferred using Nastasic and Kompany in the centre of defense. As a result Toure made just 18 Premier League appearances this season. With his contract expiring in summer, the player decided to leave the club in search of regular first team football.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is considering Toure as a perfect replacement to retired Jaime Carragher and is convinced his experience could be a valuable asset for the team.

Toure is no stranger to Premier League, having made 307 appearances for during years playing in England.

Liverpool statement on an official web-site read: “Liverpool Football Club can today announce they have agreed a deal in principle with Kolo Toure to join the club on July 1. The powerful defender will be registered as a Reds player when his current deal with Manchester City expires.”
