Madrid moves second in La Liga

The Whites earned a victory in the match against Celta, while Atlético Madrid lost their first home points this season.

Real Madrid climbed to the second place in La Liga standing overcoming Atlético Madrid as the clubs showed different results on Sunday.

José Mourinho’s team are now closest Barca rivals for the League title, while the Catalans still have an impressive 13-point advantage over the capital side. Real claimed victory in the fixture against Celta with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring from the spot the second goal with 18 minutes remaining which added to an excellent week as the club earned progress to the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.

Atlético, meanwhile, lost their first points of the term after 13 straight victories at the Estadio Vicente Calderón. The hosts were defeated 1-0 by Real Sociedad as Xabier Prieto’s shot on the 53 minutes made the major impact in the match.
