Maicon ruled out Man City exit

Manchester City defender Maicon dismissed transfer speculations linking him away from Etihad stadium in summer.

According to the latest reports, the interest in the 31-year-old Brazil international is high with the host of European and South American clubs said to be interested in securing his services. Atletico Mineiro have been cited as his most likely destination.

However the player, who has joined the Citizens from Inter Milan last summer, revealed he remains committed to a club. He said: “I can completely guarantee you that I’ll not leave. I’m calm and I don’t care about what they wrote about me. My only objective is to help the team and don’t have any more injuries, as my goal is to return to the national team.”

Maicon’s presence in the first-team has been limited by a serious of injuries. He has made just 11 Premier league starts this season. He said: “I didn’t have one of my best seasons, I had physical problems that prevented me from playing all the games as I used to. It was a complicated season, but I recovered in the last part of the season and I’m prepared to help the team.”
