Malaga confirm Pellegrini’s departure
Malaga have confirmed they are looking to part ways with their manager Manuel Pellegrini to fuel speculation about his appointment as new Man City coach.
Pellegrini is widely considered favourite to succeed Roberto Mancini in charge of Manchester City. The 59-yearold Chilean has joined Malaga in 2010 after spells with Villareal and Real Madrid. Despite Pellegrini denying he has agreement in place with the Citizens earlier this month, it seems the deal is all but completed.
Pellegrini stated he leaves Malaga for sporting reasons, saying: “My coaching staff and I are separating from Malaga but our union with this city will be eternal. I’m going for sporting reasons.”
The Chilean stressed: “Sunday will be my last match at La Rosaleda and will be very exciting for me. I’m not leaving due to the matter of money but looking for a project that allows me to develop my profession conveniently. I am grateful to the directors of Malaga for trusting me but I think now the club must take another path.”
