Man City chase Derby starlet Hughes

Daily Mail reports that Manchester City are hot on the trail of 17-year-old Derby County midfielder Will Hughes.

Despite his young age the starlet has established himself as an important first-team player at the Pride Park, having made 30 appearances and scoring two goals.

The Citizens’ assistant manager David Platt has been spotted on the stands during the clash between Brighton and Derby on Saturday. He was believed to be watching his new potential signing in action. The midfielder’s performance has apparently impressed Platt, as Man City made a formal enquiry about Hughes the next day.

Derby have slapped a £10 million price-tag on their talented player, however Man City are reportedly ready to offer nothing more than £6 million and include several reserve players.
