Man City fan banned for three years for coming up against Ferdinand

21-year-old Manchester City fan Matthew Stott who ran on to the pitch to come up against Manchester United centre-back Rio Ferdinand during the Manchester derby has been banned from attending football matches for three years.

Magistrates court has given Stott a suspended 56-day prison sentence and 120 hours community service.

The incident came short after the final whistle. The fan ran onto the pitch and tried to attack Rio Ferdinand but was hustled away by Man City goalkeeper Joe Hart. Earlier Ferdinand has been hit by the coin during the celebration of Van Persie’s injury-time winning goal.
