Man City Kompany escapes three-match ban

Man City Kompany escapes three-match ban

Manchester City skipper Vincent Kompany is eligible to play against Fulham on Saturday after the Football Association has surprisingly overturned the red card he received against Arsenal.

The referee Mark Dean has sent Kompany to an early shower in the second half of the 2-0 Man City win over Arsenal on Sunday following the reckless two-footed challenge on Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere.

However the replay shows that Kompany had one foot on the ground as he contacted with the ball and the FA has decided to overturn its decision after the thorough examination of the incident.

Kompany himself revealed that did not intend to hurt Wilshere and that he accepts the referee decision. The 21-year-old England international touted as the brightest talent of the generation has just recently recovered from a long-term injury that kept him on the sidelines for about a year and a half.

This news come as a pleasant surprise for Man City boss Roberto Mancini who could be forced to buy one more defender should Kompany fail to win his appeal.
