Man City ruled out rumours about Aguero exit

Manchester City dismissed speculation linking their star forward Sergio Aguero with a move away from club.

24-year-old Aguero has been City’s top goal scorer this season, netting 12 Premier League goals in 30 appearances. The latest rumours suggest he could join Real Madrid, who are long-term admirers of the Argentinian international.

However Man City chief executive Ferran Soriano claimed the Citizens would like to hold onto Aguero’s services. He said: “This has gone on and on and on. We have had discussions with Sergio and his agent about several things and he has never expressed the willingness to go. We have never had an offer and even if we had an offer we would say no.”

Soriano has also confirmed they are in advanced talks with several players over a possible move to Etihad stadium. He said: “We are at the closing phase with several of them but the closing phase can take one week or three months.”

At the same time he revealed the club is ready to open the negotiations as regards the extension of Tevez’s and Barry’s deals, stating: “They are obviously two very good players and the discussions are going to take place.”
