Man City target Dortmund defensive pair

Man City target Dortmund defensive pair

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has turned attention to Dortmund duo Mats Hummels and Neven Subotic, amid the three-match ban of his key defender Vincent Kompany.

Man City appealed against the decision to dismiss their skipper Vincent Kompany for a tackle on Jack Wilshere during the Citizens 2-0 win over the Gunners at the Emirates stadium.

Should Kompany lose his dismissal appeal the Citizens remain with just two defenders at their disposal - Matija Nastasic and Joleon Lescott. Kolo Toure left the team to take part in Africa Nations Cup while Micah Richards is out with a long-term injury. That is why Mancini is desperate to add one or two quality players to bolster the defensive line.

However Borussia Dortmund who are considered as the favorites to win the Champions’ League this year are unlikely to sell their key players mid-season. Stoke’s Ryan Shawcross seems more realistic alternative with the fee of £10million on the cards.
