Man United close to signing Benfica Garay

Manchester United have reportedly agreed a transfer fee of £17 million for the player with Benfica for a defender Ezequiel Garay.

The defender is expected to take part in Argentina’s upcoming CONMEBOL qualifier against Colombia, while his representatives will continue negotiations with the Man Utd officials. David Moyes hopes Garay will sign for the Red Devils before the pre-season preparations begin.

United are looking to add several quality players to strengthen their otherwise sloppy defensive line, amid Vidic’s fitness issues and Ferdinand’s age. Besides Garay Moyes believes he can lure his former player Leighton Baines to the Old Trafford, should Patrice Evra rejoin Monaco.
