Man Utd team news: Van Persie’s injury is not serious

Manchester United fans may breathe a sigh of relief: the medical assessment revealed the injury of the prolific striker Van Persie is not as serious as it was expected.

Robin Van Persie picked up a weird injury during Man Utd 2-0 win over Queens Park Rangers, as he lost his balance while setting up a goal for Rafael in the 23rd minute. He returned on the pitch after lengthy treatment, however Sir Alex Ferguson was forced to replace him with Danny Welbeck several minutes after the break.

Despite the fears the injury could rule him out for a lengthy period of time, Van Persie will return in about two or three days. However Fergie is likely to bench him for the upcoming match against Norwich, to have his striker fit and healthy for the crucial Champions League last-16 match against Real Madrid at the Old Trafford.
