Manchester City eye move for Benfica Cardozo

Manchester City are seriously considering the possibility of signing Benfica goal-machine Oscar Cardozo.

The 30-year-old Paraguayan has netted 32 goals in all competitions last season, helping his side to finish as runners-up to FC Porto in the Portuguese Primeira Liga. He has been linked with a move away from the Portuguese side for several years.

It looks like Manchester City could finally lure the prolific forward to the Premier League, after he fell out of favour with Benfica boss Jorge Jesus. New Citizens head coach Manuel Pellegrini is considering him to be a perfect replacement for Carlos Tevez, who joined Juventus, and is prepared to offer around £17.500 to secure his signature.

Cardozo’s agent confirmed there is interest from Premier League in player’s services: “Benfica knows the situation and now the subject is in their hands. There has always been interest from Premier League but now this is real interest.”
