Manchester United and Chelsea share a goalless draw at Old Trafford

David Moyes did not manage to deliver a victory on his first match at Old Trafford as Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea produced a solid defensive display on Monday night.

It were the Red Devils who were dominant in the midfield but Chelsea denied their efforts successfully as Jose Mourinho pitched a squad with no nominal strikers. Wayne Rooney played the entire match and put a lot of efforts to prove he is in good shape becoming the man of the match.

There were also some penalty appeals as Frank Lampard blocked a shot in the area with a clear handball and Ashley Cole dived in De Gea’s area. However, Martin Atkinson stayed cool on both episodes.

After the match Jose Mourinho expressed his satisfaction with the tactics and the result while David Moyes felt a bit frustrated.

Manchester United’s next destination is Anfield on Sunday while Chelsea face Bayern Munich in the European Super Cup on Friday night.
