Manchester United target Gaitan set to stay put at Benfica

Benfica playmaker Nicolas Gaitan is yet to receive an official offer from the interested clubs, according to his agent.

The recent speculation has firmly linked the 25-year-old Argentinian with a move to Manchester United, with the Premier League club thought to have agreed the transfer fee for Gaitan. However now it looks like the deal is far from being completed, and in fact United is yet to make an official offer for the player.

The highly-rated player himself does not plan of leaving Estádio da Luz in the near future and is focused on fulfilling his duties at the Portuguese side, as his representative Jose Iribarren insists. He said: “For now, there is no formal offer. He wants to continue at Benfica next season. We know the rumours have been appearing in the newspapers but I cannot confirm that there is particular interest from one club. To repeat, Nico Gaitan is calm and happy at Benfica.”
