Monaco chase Abidal, Newcastle midfielder Cabaye

Ligue 1 moneybags Monaco are looking to step up their interest in highly-rated Newcastle midfielder Yohan Cabaye. Abidal is yet another player on radar of the club owned by the Russian billionaire.

27-year-old Cabaye put top European clubs on alert by saying he is expecting to leave the club in the near future, as he wants to win trophies and play at the top level. He has specified that a move to Manchester United would be a preferable option for him.

Abidal is a free agent, after Barcelona refused to extend his deal and could be interested in joining ambitious Monaco.

Monaco CEO Vadim Vasilyev confirmed the Ligue 1 side is considering a move for the players: “Yohan Cabaye? He is an exciting player. And Abidal is a strong player. If he could come back to Le Championnat everyone would be delighted.”
