Mourinho persuaded Higuain to stay

Despite offers from Manchester City, PSG and Juventus Gonzalo Higuain will not leave Real.

The Argentinian striker confessed that he had opportunities to leave Santiago Bernabeu this summer but Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho persuaded him to stay, stating the forward had a role to play in the team. The 24-year-old star revealed that the Portuguese manager talked to him openly about the forthcoming season. And this as well as the support from his team-mates and family gave him strength and optimism about the season.

The forward added he felt strong, excited and focused on winning titles in the upcoming campaign.

Higuain made 35 appearances last season and scored 22 goals.
