Napoli expect Chelsea and Man City target Cavani decide his future by the end of July
Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis revealed Cavani is likely to make a decision on his future as soon as he returns to Napoli from a summer break by the end of July.
Arguably the most sought-after player in world football at the moment Cavani has been linked with a move to numerous clubs, with Chelsea and Real Madrid considered as most likely destinations. His hefty release clause of £54 million has scared off Manchester City, who decided to switch their attention to more accessible targets.
However as it turned out Cavani could be available for a lesser amount, as his buyout clause expires on the 10th August, before the end of the transfer window. This has fuelled the speculation Cavani could opt to wait until the expiration of his release clause to secure a better deal at his future club.
But De Laurentiis admitted he hopes the 26-year-old Uruguay international will choose the club he is going to join by the 20th of July, when he returned from a summer break. He said: “I don’t think Cavani will leave on 10th August, when his buyout clause expires. I’m confident in him, because I consider him a real man. He won’t make me a joke of me.
“Should Cavani want to leave, he will decide it after a long period of reflection. But by 20th July we will probably know everything about his future.”
