Newcastle eye switch for Sporting Braga Eder

Newcastle are weighing up a move for Sporting Braga striker Eder, who they consider to be a perfect replacement to Demba Ba.

Newcastle boss Alan Pardew is keen to fill in the void left by team’s top goal scorer Demba Ba, who has left St’ James Park for Chelsea in January, and is hoping to make a switch for the 25-year-old Portugal international. However Sporting Braga are reluctant to part ways with their valuable asset and will demand in excess of £16million for Eder, though Newcastle are prepared to offer around £8 million plus add-ons.

Vitesse Bony, Ajax’s Siem de Jong and St Etienne’s Aubameyang are also on Pardew’s wishlist, but the Magpies face a stiff competition from top European sides. The Toons are considered huge underdogs in the battle for signature of the abovementioned players, as they can offer neither lucrative salary, nor European football next season, after finishing in the lower half of the table.
