Newcastle looking forward to Collocini return

Newcastle boss Alan Pardew hopes centre-back Coloccini could be back into action within two weeks.

The 31-year-old Argentina international is considered as a key member of the first squad and it was a huge blow for Newcastle when he suffered a serious back injury, ruling him out of Magpies’ 1-0 defeat to Swansea. Coloccini will also definitely miss the forthcoming Europa league fixture against Anzhi Makhachala.

Pardew will most likely play defensive duo of Steven Taylor and Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa in the centre of Newcastle defense. Manager said he hopes Coloccini recovers from his injury sooner rather than later, as his team battles to retain a comfortable mid-table League position this season. “I don’t think it’s that worrying, but it is a back injury, so we have to be careful. I think a couple of weeks,” revealed Pardew.
