Norwich sign Javier Garrido

Norwich have decided to sign Lazio’s loanee Javier Garrido on a permanent basis, after the player impressed both the fans and the coaching staff during his season-long stay at Carrow Road.

The 28-year-old Spaniard has firmly established himself as an important first-team player, making 34 appearances for the Canaries. Garrido signed a two-year deal which will keep him at Norwich until 2015. The new deal has an option of extending Garrido’s stay for one more season, should he retain high level of his performances.

Norwich boss Chris Hughton said: “I’m delighted to have secured the services of Javi on a permanent basis. The fact that we’ve signed him is a testament to the contribution he has made to the team since joining us last summer.”

Garrido himself could not hide his delight about signing a permanent contract with the club. He said: “I’m so happy to have signed full-time for Norwich City.

“I am very comfortable with everything here - with the players, the technical staff and of course the fans. I am just very happy that we have managed to remain in the Premier League where we belong.

“Now I want to do everything I can to help Norwich continue to be successful in the Premier League. For me personally I am delighted to have secured my future playing in English football with Norwich City.”
