Panucci is up for Roma job

The Italian side eyes the former defender as a candidate for the head coach position.

Roma sacked Zdenek Zeman after Saturday defeat against Cagliari, appointing Aurelio Andreazzoli as an interim manager.

The Capital side is negotiating with a number of tactician and Panucci who serves as an assistant coach to Fabio Capello at the Russian national team is one of them.

“There was a phone call. I was asked if I was prepared to come back to Roma,” revealed the Italian.

Panucci claimed that he was ready to take the job, underlining: “I spent some marvellous years at the Trigoria training ground. I’m not frightened by the prospect, as if anything I am fired up at the idea of being their coach. “
