Pep set to take charge of Bayern Munich in July

Despite being linked with a move to one of the English top clubs including Chelsea, Man City, Man Utd, Milan and Roma Pep Guardiola has decided to take charge of the German giants Bayern Munich.

For sure Pep’s decision raised some eyebrows, taking into account that the news about his agreement with Bayern Munich came shortly after the exciting announcement he wants to take charge of English club in the near future. Indeed, his declaration of love to English football made some fans and media alike conclude that he moves to England this summer.

However keeping in mind the difficulties of managing Chelsea and Man City – two clubs desperately trying to sign him since his stepping down as Barcelona coach, his choice seems to be rational. Man City has almost infinite possibilities of drawing the best talents from all over the world, but Sheik Mansour wants his investments to be repaid almost immediately with the impressive results. At the moment it seems that even winning the Premier League title last season does not keeps Mancini’s job safe. Need I say a word or two about trigger-happy Chelsea owner Abramovich who changes his managers like Madonna changes clothes?

That is why preferring Bayern Munich – the club with illustrious history and rich traditions kept intact by two former players (Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Uli Hoeness), excellent infrastructure and impressive home ground, rich finances, superb training facilities and youth academy - over Chelsea and Man City is undoubtedly thoroughly thought. Yes, he will have less money to spend however it would be enough to bring the players he wants. Moreover Bundesliga has been developing rapidly in the last several years. Excellent performance demonstrated by Schalke, Bayern and Borussia Dortmund to reach the Champions League last-16 can prove as a good evidence of recent Bundesliga massive leap in quality.

the 41-year-old Spaniard has agreed a contract with Bayern Munich until 2016.
